Cloud Computing – The Future of IT
The cost involved in running an organization is pretty much exhausting. There are hundreds of applications and thousands of software that you have to install in every personal computer in your organization. The task is daunting but is still in practice today. The cost of each software license is simply a nightmare for every employer. What if software doesn’t work properly on a standalone system, you have to uninstall and reinstall until its works. The modern age has answers to ease out this task and improve efficiency in the form of “Cloud Computing”.
Cloud computing is gradually replacing the old day practices in the organization and breaking all myths about storage and functionality. It can significantly reduce IT costs in addition to optimizing workload and service delivery. Cloud computing uses Internet and remote servers to store data and applications thus providing an alternative to store data locally. Therefore the users can access data without having to download or install software on their desktops.

For instance Yahoo email and Gmail works on this principle. We can access, share and store data without the need of software or a server. All you need is only an Internet connection and the rest is taken care of by the cloud service providers. The underlying point is you get only what you need and nothing more or nothing less.
Cloud is broadly categorized into two type public and private cloud. Public cloud sells services to the general users of the Internet while private cloud reserves itself to a proprietary network or a data center whose services are offered to a small network of people. Ultimately the goal of cloud computing is to provide easy, scalable access to computing resources and IT services.
Microblogging and blogging services such as Twitter and WordPress, video-sharing sites like YouTube, picture-sharing sites such as Flickr, document and applications sites like Google Docs, social-bookmarking sites like Delicious, business sites like eBay, and ranking, rating, and commenting sites such as Yelp and TripAdvisor are some of the leading players in cloud services.
It is predicted that by 2020 the desktops will certainly be a thing of the past and people will start working on a general purpose PC that provides applications on demand. The majority of the IT players are shifting towards cloud computing preparing the IT industry for a revolution.

Licensing for cloud based apps is also different. You need not buy any kind of servers or software to run your apps in the cloud. All the apps you use are formed into a package that comes with a monthly subscription. So all you need to do is to pay only for the apps you use and forget about others. This saves the enormous cost involved in purchasing and licensing software.
To sum it up, cloud computing is that simple idea that transforms the way whole world works.
